About
Literary Boston (formerly the Boston Book Blog) is dedicated to covering and promoting the literary scene of Boston, with features on local authors and literary organizations, local author new releases, Boston literary news, local readings and events, Boston literary history, and more.
Jessica, our founder, moved (back) to Boston in 2012 to pursue a writing career, and when she arrived she looked online for a site that covered the Boston literary community, a site that could tell her all the things going on locally that had to do with books, writers, and readers.
She didn't find anything. So she started one herself.
The Boston literary community is vibrant, diverse, and has great roots. We desire to be a resource to writers and readers, providing the information and tools necessary to know what great readings to go to, what workshops to attend, what books to read, where to pick up a new novel, and more — the go-to spot for all things literary in Boston!

Literary Boston FAQ
What do you consider "Boston"?
We cover events, activities, and authors who are located within the I-95 belt. Sometimes we’ll cover events, activities, and authors who are located out to the I-495 belt (essentially Plymouth to Newburyport). Also, we cover local authors and their work, not work set in Boston with authors from elsewhere.
Will you feature my event?
Probably! We may already have it up on the calendar (we have a list of 100+ sites we pull from), so check there first! If you’re hosting a literary event locally (for sure within the I-95 belt, possibly within the I-495 belt), send it along in the content form below. You must have a public link — website, Eventbrite, Insta post — that anyone can access, and you must include it in your email. Please send your event along at least two weeks before the event so we can get it into our materials and distributed. We also never charge to post a listing!
Events I typically post: Book events with the author/authors talking about their book, author or poetry readings, book festivals or conferences, bookstore pop-ups, miscellaneous literary events like Shakespeare on the Common, book club meetings. Considering virtual events is up to my discretion.
Events I typically don’t post: Writing workshops, talks or lectures that aren’t related to a book, storytimes read by someone other than the author, silent reading/writing events, book swaps.
Please include the above in your message via the form below. If the above is not included (i.e., provide all the info needed so I don’t have to do more research to figure out your event details), your message will not be read.
Will you feature my book?
Possibly! If you’d like your book added to our new releases section and be considered for further promotion:
You must be a local Boston author who lives inside the I-495 belt (see above for what constitutes “Boston”).
Your book must be orderable through Bookshop, i.e., we’re looking for books available through Ingram. We’re HUGE supporters of indie bookstores and the founder is a former bookseller, so we align with a bookstore’s ordering/availability model. We do not feature self-published titles that can’t be ordered via Ingram/Bookshop.
Please send a link to your book’s listing on Bookshop, and to your own website and/or publisher's site.
Please include the above in your message via the form below. If the above is not included (i.e., provide all the info needed so I don’t have to do more research to figure out who you are and what your book is), your message will not be read.
Can I pitch you an article?
We are closed to pitching submissions right now.
